Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - DVD ReviewAn Animated Story of Food and Fun
When an invention goes awry, a young inventor must quickly find a way to shut it down to save the world.
Flint Lockwood has been inventing things all his life. His passion is inventing, even though his father wants him to stop playing around and join him in his bait shop. They live on a small island where sardines are the main source of income for the residents. An Invention Goes AwryFlint doesn’t want to work with his father. He really wants to invent something worthwhile, something that will be useful for humanity. So, when the island is headed for disaster when their food source starts disappearing, Flint figures out how to make more food. His invention though, gets shot into the sky. What happens next is that the food starts falling from the sky, to the delight of the people. Even though this isn’t exactly what Flint had in mind, he is the town’s hero anyway, as they all enjoy the tasty treats. Sam Sparks is a weathergirl who is covering the strange phenomenon. While Sam pretends to be a dimwitted girl, she is in fact a brilliant woman who becomes Flint’s assistant, especially when things go wrong. The mayor of the town figures this new turn of events is just the ticket to revive the tourist industry there. He indulges in all the falling food, and wants the world to know about the island where food falls from the sky. The Future of the Planet Lies in the Hands of Flint LockwoodNot only is Flint a hero for inventing the machine, but he is even more of a hero when he fulfills special orders for certain foods. Ice cream is a favorite among the kids, and steaks are enjoyed by the adults. But the invention gets overloaded and threatens the atmosphere, not only of the island, but the entire world. This is a catastrophic event that could end the world. It is up to Flint, with the assistance of Sam, to figure out a way to stop the machine once and for all. This story is taken from the popular book from Ron and Judi Barrett, which has been a family favorite for years. Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Mr. T, Benjamin Bratt and Neil Patrick Harris are among those lending their voices to the animated characters. While not necessarily an attention grabber for adults, kids enjoy this movie and the DVD is something they will be able to watch over and over again. It’s a cute story, and who hasn’t dreamt of having a food machine at their beck and call? Bonus Features on the Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack
