Paramount Home Video is bringing South Park Season 12 to DVD, while Paramount re-releases 1991's Snoopy's Reunion.

A couple of animated DVD sets will be winging their way onto store shelves (and, hopefully, consumers' DVD racks) in 2009

Warner Home Video Releases Snoopy's Reunion

The 1991 Peanuts special Snoopy's Reunion will be remastered and released onto DVD, according to DVD Active. Contractual issues have prevented Warner Home Video from releasing Peanuts specials like this one and You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown, as a complete box set. It's believed that Paramount Home Video owns the rights to several Peanuts shorts as well.

Here's the synopsis for Snoopy's Reunion: " Snoopy is homesick for his puppyhood at the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm, so he and Charlie Brown organize a reunion of his siblings Spike, Andy, Olaf, Marbles, Belle, Molly and Rover. However, when they arrive at the puppy farm, Charlie Brown is aghast to find that urban sprawl has replaced it with a parking garage. Snoopy and his family however, calmly begin to play musical instruments they've each bought, thoroughly satisfied that they are together on the sidewalk in front."

In addition to the feature, the single DVD set will also contain an as-yet unknown bonus Peanuts short, plus a featurette called "Together Again: The Peanuts Voice-Cast Reunion." The MSRP is $19.98.

Snoopy's Reunion comes to DVD on April 7, 2009.

Paramount Home Video Releases South Park Season 12 DVD Set

Just when you thought civility, decency and morality had returned to stay in this post-W world, here comes yet another rude, crude and lewd South Park DVD set to insult and offend absolutely everyone (except those of us who are laughing too hard to notice).

According to DVD Times, Paramount Home Entertainment will release South Park Season 12 onto DVD and Blu-Ray on March 10, 2009. The set will include all 14 episodes, shown uncensored. This means that viewers will get the full Trey and Matt Effect, spoofing such targets as Britney Spears, Heavy Metal, Canadians, Twilight, Peruvian pan flute bands, High School Musical and Barack Obama.

Extras include the following featurettes:

  • Six Days to South Park – A Day-by-Day Making of South Park ("Super Fun Time")
  • Six Days to South Park -- The Sixth Day ("About Last Night")
  • The Making of "Major Boobage"

The Blu-ray version will feature 5.1 Dolby TrueHD alongside the standard DVD's sound track. There's no word as to whether creators Trey and Matt will add their mini-commentaries to any episodes.

Be aware that there is some double-dipping going on, since at least three episodes (”Tonsil Trouble”, “Eek, A Penis!”, and “Super Fun Time”) from Season 12 have already made it onto home video, via the recent The Cult of Cartman - Revelations DVD set.
