Two Films Entertain Children Winter 2008Keep the Children Happy This Winter with WALL-E, or Kung Fu Panda.
Here are two film choices from this year that will help you fill those winter days, and entertain adults and children alike on those long winter evenings.
As the nights draw in none of us feel much like heading out, it’s the perfect time of year for snuggling up indoors and indulging in a few good movie choices instead. These two choices will not only keep the kids entertained, but should also brighten up the winter days for the grown ups as well, especially useful for providing entertainment over the seasons holiday. Wall-E – The Story One of the years biggest animated hits at the cinema, directed by Andrew Stanton, Wall-E is the story of the last robot on Earth. Due to mankinds over consumption Earth has become the universe’s biggest rubbish dump, so humans de-camp to Space leaving hundreds of Waste Allocation Load Lifter – Earth Classes to sort out the problem. Many years later and just one little robot is left still doing the job he was designed for. Over the years however this particular unit otherwise known as Wall-E has developed a programming glitch, he has a personality and a very curious one at that. When an E V A (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator), arrives on earth to investigate whether mankind’s old home is in a fit state to inhabit once again Wall-E suddenly becomes aware there is more to the universe than he thought. Unique AnimationWall-E’s adventures are exciting, funny and thoroughly heart warming. A particularly interesting aspect of this film is that there is almost no dialogue for the first half hour of the film, and relatively little even as the film goes on. That however is one of the true beauties of the film, the story, the characters and more over the level of animation are strong enough to allow you to fully engage through the action alone. Andrew Stanton’s vision has once again produced a beautiful crafted story, both in terms of plot and visually. The effects created by the artistic team more than ever give the feeling of reality to an otherwise unworldly setting. This film is a real gem and another triumph for Disney Pixar. Kung Fu Panda – The Story DreamWorks latest animated offering sees a host of talent, skilfully directed by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson to create a wickedly funny film. Po the Panda has long dreamed of being a Kung Fu Master on a par with the Furious Five. The five train under Master Shifu and Master Oogway in the temple high above where Po lives in the Valley of Peace. One day the time comes for a new Dragon Warrior to be chosen, the whole valley turns out to see the ceremony, but in a bizarre twist of events Po is chosen instead of one of the five, now he must live up to his title and defend the Valley against an escaped prisoner and deadly Kung Fu Master. Feel Good StoryThis film is very funny and the humour is defiantly aimed towards children, but there is still plenty to bring smiles to the faces of the adults in the audience. Jack Black shows his versatility yet again in a superb performance as the unlike hero Po. The vocal talents of supporting cast members also include Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogan and Ian McShane. Black however really does steal the show, creating a vulnerable, loveable character that anyone can identify with. A story of over coming seemingly insurmountable difficulties to triumph, and changing other peoples opinions, this film has a huge heart and will be loved by all.
